Forest Employee Attacked By Timber Smugglers In South Kashmir's Pulwama

Pulwama, 06 July: An employee of the forest protection squad was injured late last night when their team had a scuffle with timber smugglers in Aglar Pulwama area of Romshi Forest Range. 

Official said that he team was on routine night patrolling in the area after receiving inputs about timber smugglers being active in the area. 

Last night's action was taken under the overall supervision of Range Officer Romshi. 

"We managed to seize their horses and illicit timber. But they fled the scene after injuring one of our employees, taking advantage of the darkness," he said.

Meanwhile, the injured employee has been identified as Hilal Ahmad who received 5 stitches on his head. 

The forest department has been proactive in putting an end to timber smuggling in the area with day/night patrolling and frequent raids at notorious places. 

Many such counter smuggling activities are expected in future as well.
